Asbestos Compliance Review

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires asbestos to be safely managed in all non-domestic premises.

This legal responsibility falls to the dutyholder – the person with the main responsibility for maintenance and repair within the premises. In some cases, there are multiple dutyholders who will need to cooperate with one another to effectively manage asbestos.
Specifically Regulation 4 – “The duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises” the following basic regulations are required by dutyholders:

  • Identify the dutyholders and ensure those responsible are competent
  • Take reasonable steps to identify asbestos within your premises
  • Develop an asbestos register
  • Develop an asbestos management plan
  • Review your asbestos management plan at least annually
