Environmental Essentials win the Houses of Parliament contract

Following a rigorous tender process, Environmental Essentials have won a three year contract to provide asbestos consultancy services to the UK Parliament.

The Environmental Essentials team successfully navigated a rigorous tender process to be appointed, including a 25,000 word submission and an interview. As well as providing added value, our experience working on heritage buildings and sensitive sites such as Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

The contract award comes at a momentous point in the history of these iconic buildings, as preparations get under way for the Northern Estates Programme and the Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Programme.

The first stage of the work will be to complete a thorough asbestos management survey of the whole of the Palace of Westminster, which welcomes more than a million people through its doors every year. The services we provide will lay the groundwork for the removal of significant amounts of asbestos, which has limited the ability to undertake vital conservation and renovation work in the past.

“This prestigious contract will support the growth of our South East office, allowing us to create new employment and training opportunities from apprenticeship to senior management level. We are looking forward to working closely with the UK Parliament to improve their asbestos data and, ultimately, to help make the Houses of Parliament safe, accessible, and fit for the 21st century.”
