First charity event announced for the Mavis Nye Foundation
Environmental Essentials are committed to a year long partnership with the Mavis Nye Foundation.
Mavis Nye was diagnosed with mesothelioma (a disease contracted by inhaling asbestos fibers) in 2009, and given 3 months to live. After years of Chemotherapy, hard work and dedication in helping others she is now the founder and president of her own charity.
The aim of the foundation is to offer support to mesothelioma victims and fund research in drug development. One of the main objectives of the charity is to support the funding for Student Nurses and Doctors to specialise in the Field of mesothelioma.
Mavis is a good friend of the company and is delighted about our efforts to support her foundation. As part of our efforts we will be running a series of fundraising events across the duration of the partnership.
The first of these events will be the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in September, we hope to complete the challenge with a team of around 9-10 colleagues from across all parts of the business. More information about this popular challenge can be found here.

On another note we would like to congratulate Mavis and her husband Ray on receiving their Honorary degree award from the University of Kent on Tuesday 9th July. Environmental Essentials were invited to the event at the Chatham historic Dockyard in Kent where Mavis’ story began. Megan Farmer represented Environmental Essentials and presented Mavis with flowers and a card containing a donation to the charity.
Megan said,“It was so nice to join Mavis for her celebration of her award and be a part of such an achievement, to meet someone so brave!”
